Two antique woodcut engravings and a report of the above Regatta which was held on Thursday 3rd July, 1845 which appeared in "The Illustrated London News" on July 12th, 1845.. The illustration which were engraved from sketches made by Mr N.M. Condy shows the 'Champion' winning with the 'Lily of Devon' disabled. In the distance are seen the Steep Holmes and the Flat Holmes Lighthouses. The second sketch shows the regatta from the sea - the 'Ganymeade', R.Y.S. saluting.

A single line was opened from Bristol to the Pier at New Passage in September 1863 it was open to the public including the ferry service. The Ferry ran from New Passage Pier across the river Severn to Portskewett Pier in Wales.
