An antique county map of Caernarvonshire from 'English Topography or, A Series of Historical and Statistical Descriptions of the several Counties of England and Wales.' Printed for Baldwin, Craddock, and Joy Paternoster-Row. Published in 1816 with contemporary outline colouring. This map was engraved by John Roper and drawn by George Cole. and originally issued to accompany 'The Beauties of England and Wales' and issued in the 'British Atas' in 1810.

Thomas Taylor is significant in a Welsh context for publishing the small county atlas 'The Principality of Wales exactly described' in 1718, which seems to have been the first published atlas relating entirely to Wales. The colouring is original. Maps from this atlas are not easy to find. Generous margins and fine condition.

Initially issued in 1607, Britannia was the first publication that contained a complete set of individual county maps of England and Wales. The maps were based on the earlier work of Christopher Saxton and John Norden and were engraved by William Hole and William Kip. Blank verso. Wide margins. Later colouring.

This miniature antique county map of Caernarfonshire was produced as a playing card map by Robert Morden in 1676. This map together with the whole of Mordens pack of cards were republished in 1773 by H. Turpin in a book entitled " A Brief Description of England and Wales". Trimmed to the plate edge and mounted, as issued. Very good impression. Clean condition.

This rare and curious antique map of Caernarvonshire was produced from the research of ARISTIDE MICHAEL PERROT in 1823. This map, a copper plate engraving, has original outline handcolouring. Some maps show a single county, but more often two or more counties were joined to form a group which is similar in industry, agriculture and terrain.
